Halo: Launching a world-first
Launched in 2019, Halo entered a highly competitive vacuum cleaner market dominated by established household names. Founded by former Shark and Dyson engineer Paul Bagwell, the brand was built on a simple insight: traditional cordless vacuums could be clunky, heavy and cumbersome to use.
Our brief was to establish Halo as a credible challenger brand, rapidly building awareness, trust and consideration among consumers while communicating its distinctive product innovations. As the business evolved, we also needed to support its expansion beyond cordless vacuums and into new cleaning categories.
The strategy
We developed an integrated PR approach combining product-led media relations, founder profiling, influencer partnerships and targeted launch activity. The strategy focused on demonstrating Halo’s USPs through credible third-party endorsement, making its technology relevant to everyday consumers and building sustained visibility beyond individual product launches.
We prioritised securing dedicated product reviews and inclusion in key buying guides, putting Halo’s Capsule X vacuum directly into the hands of influential journalists. By highlighting the lightweight carbon-fibre construction, bagged technology and practical benefits, we aimed to differentiate Halo from established competitors and establish its products as credible alternatives in a crowded market.
We positioned founder Paul Bagwell as a credible voice in the home appliance category, using his engineering background and experience at Shark and Dyson to tell the story behind Halo’s innovation. Founder profiling helped humanise the brand, communicate the thinking behind its product design and reinforce its credentials as an ambitious challenger in the category.
To bring Halo’s products to life in authentic, relatable settings, we developed organic influencer campaigns that connected product benefits with everyday cleaning challenges. These included Shed Happens, gifting products to dog-focused influencers to demonstrate their effectiveness at tackling pet hair, and a spring-cleaning activity timed around the clocks changing to tap into a key seasonal cleaning moment.
Ahead of Halo launching two new products to market – the Capsule XR cordless vacuum and the HotSpot spot cleaner – we hosted a media & influencer event to give attendees a first look and drive excitement. The event provided an opportunity to showcase the products to media, generate interest in Halo’s expanding portfolio and build awareness of the brand’s capabilities beyond its established cordless vacuum range, with the HotSpot representing the brand’s first move into a new product category.
