Phil rose to be the editor of Britain’s biggest selling newspaper for five years before taking up the reins as editor-in-chief of the world’s most well-known celebrity magazine, Hello!

He later became editorial director of development for Trinity Mirror, Europe’s largest newspaper publishing group. He has established a reputation as a thought leader in the Communications sector and is a member of the Council for the industry-leading body, the PRCA. He was asked to open the Leveson Inquiry into the media with a speech outlining the challenges facing the press in the 21st century.

After a stellar career in journalism, Phil, founded ‘Phil Hall Associates’ in 2005 with just three clients a rock star, President and Football club and moved into PHA’s first office on Carnaby Street.

Now Phil leads multi-award-winning London PR Agency The PHA Group, with over 95 staff and based in Wardour Street Soho, London. Named PR Agency of the Year, The PHA Group has over 120 clients from consumer, corporate, technology and sport and fitness industries.
Phil is a specialist in crisis and reputation management and spends much of his time protecting the reputations of PHA’s top-level clients and individuals. Phil most recently was awarded a PRCA National Award for his crisis work with Sir Cliff Richard. He was also named in the 2019 PR Week Powerbook for Sport and Crisis and Reputation Management and listed as Spears 500 Top 10 Reputation experts.

Phil has represented captains of industry, senior politicians and global sports stars.
