Listen to this week’s episode of Ten minutes with… where we’re joined by Ian McIntosh CEO of RED Driving School, the UK’s largest driving school. In 2012, he quit his stable, well-paid corporate job to become the boss of RED, then a failing driving school chain. The past six years have seen a complete overhaul of the company under Ian’s guidance and continues to lead in its delivery of an essential skill for life.
Today, RED Driving School teaches in excess of 100,000 learner drivers to pass the UK government driving test each year. RED delivers a tailored teaching programme focused on helping its pupils become safe and confident drivers beyond the test stage. RED is also a franchise business, allowing driving instructors to trade under the company’s established and trusted name.
Ian began his career in the food world, working for Mars as an industrial engineer. He quickly progressed, becoming a financial controller for the group in Germany. Following his time at Mars, Ian worked for the likes of Brossard UK and Kara Foods, before settling at AAK, where he worked for over 12 years. He left his role as President of the Group’s West Division to join RED as CEO in 2012.
