Announcing PHA’s 2023/2024 Charity of the Year

The PHA Group is proud to announce our fourth annual charity partner The Children’s Literacy Charity as this year’s Charity of the Year, kicking off our year-long partnership from Autumn 2023.

After a successful year of supporting our previous partner, Feeding Britain, we raised over £3,000 through supporting local projects, our annual Walkathon and companywide raffles and various fundraising activities.  We also took part in several volunteering days at community kitchens across London.

Each year we offer staff a chance to  choose through a company wide vote our charity partner based on the causes which resonate with them the most. The Children’s Literacy Charity is an amazing organisation who are focussed on closing the literacy gap for disadvantaged children in the UK, making sure that those who are the most behind are not left behind. At a time when many schools and families are under pressure, this is more important than ever.

The charity supports children in disadvantaged areas through a number of tuition projects and schemes, such as its Literacy and Reading Labs, where expert tutors work closely with children to build their confidence and develop important skills in reading and writing, as well as comprehension, listening and speaking. It also offers support to families through coffee mornings and workshops, giving parents the opportunity to further develop their children’s literacy skills at home.

Over the next 12 months, The PHA Group will support The Children’s Literacy Charity in several ways, including:

  • Launching agencywide fundraising and awareness initiatives including running and bikeathon events, bake sales, quizzes and more, to raise vital funds for The Children’s Literacy Charity.
  • Increasing its media and social presence through pro bono support and promoting the charity through PHA’s owned channels.
  • Volunteering at The Children’s Literacy Charity partner schools to spend time working with pupils.
  • Creating story stacks to develop the delivery of the charity’s Literacy and Reading Labs.

PHA also recognises that education on this topic is important. Throughout our partnership with The Children’s Literacy Charity, we will be sharing regular updates and insights, so employees are informed on the impact literacy gaps have on children and our wider society.

We are thrilled to announce our partnership with The Children’s Literacy Charity, and we look forward to working them over the next year, sharing lots of updates along the way!
