To celebrate the launch of the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2020 ballot, we arranged a wellness panel event to take place on the morning of the 28th January, at the JW Marriott Grosvenor House London.
The panel was moderated by award-winning journalist and author, Poorna Bell, who was named as Marie Claire’s top 30 women and is one of Balance magazine’s top 100 Wellness personalities.
Alongside Poorna sat three inspirational individuals who made up our panel, including Charlie Watson, founder of The Runner Beans blog who discussed her personal reasons for running, what keeps her signing up to running events, dealing with anxiety and tips for being race-day ready.
Joél Thika, Co-Founder of Run With Purpose, a group that tackles male depression through community-based running. Joél discussed why it’s important for men to have a safe space to open up and share, how RWP provide that environment and the ways men have been positively impacted through running with RWP.
Lastly, Adam Selvey, who was born with cerebral palsy (CP) and discussed how the condition has impacted his life, how running has been a transformative activity for him and his experience of running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October 2019.
The panel event was attended by 60 guests and included journalists, influencers and representatives from some of the Royal Parks Half Marathon partners, sponsors and charities who, following the panel discussion, counted down to the official opening of the 2020 ballot.
