Our ones to watch at CES 2020

The world’s largest consumer electronics show is back and ready to kick the New Year, and decade, off in style. This year Las Vegas plays host to CES, the world’s gathering place for all those who thrive on the business of consumer technologies. For over 50 years the event has served as the proving ground for innovators and breakthrough technologies.

This year Ivanka Trump, advisor to the US President, will be the keynote speaker discussing the path to the future of work.

Businesses from all around the globe will be attending the three-day event this week, and we’ve taken a closer look at five exciting and innovative businesses from the UK.

Elvie

Championing femtech in the UK is technology firm Elvie. Known for creating the Elvie Pump, the world’s first silent wearable breast pump, and the award-winning Kegel trainer.

Elvie are on a mission to bring women’s’ technology out of the dark ages and improve their lives through smarter tech; no longer will women have to make do with shoddy design or pink spin-offs.

The revolutionary Elvie pump means no tubes, no wires and more importantly women can pump on their own terms, whether that’s at home, work or on the go.

There’s even a free app that monitors milk volume in real-time and tracks pumping history for each breast.

Elvie is certainly a business to watch out for in 2020.

G-Hold

Have you ever taken the time to think about how you hold things? Well, G-Hold certainly has. The Scottish based business is determined to change the way the world holds things.

The G-Hold ergonomic tablet holders fix to the back of a  product such as a tablet and enable you to work, play, learn and create without fear of dropping delicate devices or causing injury.

Alison Grieve, the founder of G-Hold initially created the patented handholding technology over a decade ago for the food-service industry. As a former waitress, Alison had come up with the idea for a discrete handhold after witnessing a spectacular accident involving a tray toppling over at an important function.

Hero-Labs

Did you know that water leaks cause more damage than all house fires, explosions and burglaries combined in the UK. An estimated 800 million litres of water a day is wasted in the UK alone just from water leaks.

And even if your leak is covered on your house insurance, leaks are a complete pain to deal with. Weeks of repairs and “drying out” are needed and not to mention the smell of damp you have to put up with.

But Hero Labs are here to put a stop to all this. Sonic; the latest piece of technology, is here to protect your whole home from freshwater leaks throughout your whole property. Using next-generation AI technology, it measures the flow of water through your home and intelligently analyses it around the clock to detect leaks, saving you money in the process.

Moasure

The future of measuring has arrived. Moasure’s patented technology uses motion to take measurements, leveraging inertial sensors and a trademarked algorithm to deliver a groundbreaking new way to measure.

Allowing you to capture a floor plan outline and share in a CSV file format in just a matter of minutes, Moasure is sure to be a go-to gadget for architects and landscapers alike.

It couldn’t be simpler to use either, simply touch down from one point to another and Moasure will plot each position and calculate all the relevant measurements at the same time, giving you the distance, height, level, angle or incline.

Moodbeam

The first wearable device that logs how we feel at just the push of a button. The concept of Moodbeam comes from a mum’s desire to know how her daughter was feeling when she wasn’t with her. Moodbeam has been created with the ambition to transform the way the world sees mood.

To use, simply press a button whenever you feel a strong change in mood. Yellow for when you’re feeling happy or blue for when you’re feeling unhappy. Then reflect on the data through the app and begin learning about your moods by identifying patterns and trends.
