The world-famous sporting event, in which students from the universities of Oxford and Cambridge compete in a series of rowing races, now spans nearly 200 years of rivalry, the first men’s race having first taken place in 1829.
Our brief involves managing media relations for The Boat Race Company, including the press office for the race and raising the profile of the student-athletes making up the teams.
Siobhan Cassidy, chair of The Boat Race Company, said: “With 194 years of intense rivalry between the university boat clubs of Oxford and Cambridge, we are proud that The Boat Race is now synonymous with British tradition and excellence. We look forward to working closely with The PHA Group in the build-up to next year’s event.”
Tom Inskip, Director of Sport & Fitness at The PHA Group, said: “It is brilliant to be working with The Boat Race Company to tell the stories of human endeavour that underpin this great rivalry between the UK’s top two universities.”
The championship course stretches over 4.25 miles of tidal Thames between Putney and Mortlake in West London, and the event is attended by more than 250,000 spectators.
This latest win adds to a selection of other sports sector appointments in recent months, including British Gymnastics, the Adidas Manchester Marathon and England Golf.
