Mitt Romney Republican Nomination Presidential Election 2012 PR

“Tomorrow we begin a new tomorrow.” We sure do Mitt, we sure do. President Barack Obama was this morning re-elected to lead America for another four years. But why, when the election was so close, did Mitt Romney not win? Was it his PR that cost him the vote?

Over the course of the campaign period, the Republicans, led by Mitt Romney or should we say, Willard, suffered two rather large PR disasters.

The first of course was courtesy of Clint ‘Chair Whisperer’ Eastwood. Still unsure of what he was hoping to achieve with his talking to an empty chair, however, it has to be one of the memorable speeches of the night. All it did was create this idea that the Republicans are a little loopy…

The second PR mishap was down to Donald Trump, which isn’t really that surprising. But his constant battering of Obama, his offering of $5million dollars for charity, and now his call for a protest march have only ensured that he furthermore crippled the Republican name. All Trump managed to achieve was to portray the Republicans as crazy, bad-wig wearing tyrants.

The rest of the PR issues were solely down to Willard. His quotes were akin to some of the beauties that Bush used to come out with. The top favourite being:

“When you have a fire in an aircraft, there’s no place to go, exactly, there’s no — and you can’t find any oxygen from outside the aircraft to get in the aircraft, because the windows don’t open. I don’t know why they don’t do that. It’s a real problem.”

“[My wife] drives a couple of Cadillacs.”

“I love this state. The trees are the right height.”

“I’m not familiar precisely with what I said, but I’ll stand by what I said, whatever it was.”

But of course, the quote that really drove Mitt’s intelligence forward was his comments about using ‘binders full of women’ whilst attempting to help the Massachusetts governor diversify his cabinet.

Perhaps it’s time to for the Republicans to ditch their PR time, and look into hiring crisis management…
