After watching this video it got me thinking… what is to become of Generation Z?

All this new technology that we have learnt to live with is something that ‘generation Z’ will be unable to live without. Long gone are the days of the Walkman portable cassette player, the Sony Megadrive and Nokia 3310. All products of technology that will remain part of our young lives forever yet now seem inadequate compared to the latest iPad2 or HTC smartphone.

Even Friends Reunited, Bebo and Myspace joined the social media graveyard when the likes of Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare dominated the cyber world.

If technology has advanced this far in 10 years, how much further will it take us in the next?

Generation Z will grow up reading all their books, magazines and newspapers online putting the survival of print media in limbo.  The new Facebook layout has left many complaining it is ‘too intrusive’ leading us to question whether Google+ will become the new leader in social media.

There are many unanswerable questions relating to how technology will change our world – quite literally.

Microsoft have produced the following video providing insight into how they see the future of technology unravelling. It concentrates on how technology will increase productivity in our daily lives.

Now even though this may seem a bit extreme, much of this technology is already being put to practice, for example, touch screen, voice recognition and video chat. Meaning the reality of the rest becoming commonplace is not far off.

What do you think – are Microsoft’s predictions realistic and is our world turning completely digital?
