…Britannia rules the VMA’s’! Not only is this catchy, but it’s also very true! MTV’s Video Music Awards were held last night at The Staples Centre, Los Angeles and what can we say? Us Brits owned the night!
X-factor runners-up One Direction completely dominated the evening, by taking home a total of 3 moon men awards, and along with Calvin Harris and Coldplay (2 other winners of the night), showed the U.S, and the rest of the world, that even though we’re small, Britain is anything but shy!
Not only did we rock the evening on a musical note, but we dominated the majority of the red carpet attention too. Well, we aren’t labelled as ‘the most fashionable country in the world’ for no reason!
Our very own Rita Ora stole the limelight in this Emilio Pucci crystal catsuit! Accessorised with Cartier jewellery and a pair of red-soled Louboutin beauties, Rita’s edgy yet classic look gets both thumbs up, and jealous glares, from us!
British acting starlet Emma Watson also commanded attention in a bold and extremely bright ensemble designed by Peter Pilotto. There to promote her new film ‘The Perks of being a Wallflower’, Emma’s fiery orange top consisted of geometric shapes with mesh panelling, and the use of colour blocking meant that there was no chance she would be left looking like a wallflower on this occasion.
(Note: We are loving the geometric shapes on this outfit! And with other celebs, such as Alicia Keys rocking this look, one can’t help but wonder whether it will be making an appearance at London Fashion Week later on this month?)
Emma Watson wasn’t the only celeb choosing to wear a London-based design, as Pink decided to go for a more classic look in a figure-hugging silver creation by Stella McCartney. The long-sleeved, floor-length gown was full of sequins, giving it plenty of wow-factor!
And who knows, with The Saturdays, The Wanted, and the already popular Rita Ora setting out to follow in the footsteps of One Direction by invading the American charts, maybe we will own the night once more? VMA’s 2013 get ready, the Brits are coming …
